It seems silly to write about outdoor living areas in the middle of winter
but we've had a couple of warmer days just lately. Spring seems to be in the air but who knows here in the Southern Highlands we can still be wearing sweaters in December.
I love outdoor living areas, whether it's beside a pool, a patio table and chairs near the BBQ or nestled in the privacy of the garden, a wonderful covered outdoor entertaining area, with or without a built-in fireplace and don't forget the front verandah.
The front verandah in Australia is a very neglected area of most homes and yet while we lived in the US it was an extension of the house. Just like the front door, it's first impressions with a verandah. To me there is nothing better than sitting in the warmth of the sun with a cuppa and magazine on the front verandah. Yes, I speak to neighbours as they pass and No, I'm not nosey!
Restoration Hardware does do it well!
Funny, I'm just writing a post about verandahs at the moment, in particular the railings as we are trying to come up with some designs. Thanks for these lovely inspiration photos, they really do porches so well in the US.
