Thank you - Country Home Ideas

Silhouettes and More was established 9 years ago by artist Jan Blough.

Jan began mounting the silhouettes on old, authentic 18th and 19th century papers, each object told a story all of its own. Due the popularity the silhouettes are now lithograph prints of original hand cut silhouettes matched beautifully with old documents and hymnals. These wonderful pieces are available as bevelled glass ornaments. The ornaments are enhanced with hand applied silver molding and black ribbon.

Jan has enjoyed local and national publicity and has successfully attracted the interest of many unique gift shops across America and now I’m excited to introduce these gorgeous silhouettes, in Australia. They look wonderful hanging on door knobs, window latches and even the tree!

Archibald Prize

Ben Quilty's - 'Margaret Olley'

Del Kathryn's - 'Mother' (Cate Blanchett)

Matt Doust's - 'White Cocoon'

Jiawei Shen's - 'Self Portrait'

Apple Xiu Yin's - 'Hearing . Meditation'

We had a wonderful week last week exploring Sydney.  The Archibald Prize exhibition at the NSW Art Gallery was wonderful and for my nine year daughter to enjoy the exhibition was a delight in itself!  As a mother if  I can give my child an appreciation of the arts, I think it will be a tick in the column of rounding out her education.
Of course we all had our own favourites and I've posted them but please go take a look for yourself!

And naturally I can't wait for the Bald Archy to arrive at the
Milk Factory Gallery, Bowral in October this year

Xavier Ghazi's - 'Bad Ass-Ange'

both past and present.
Thank you for doing your duty for our wonderful country, so we can be free.
To all our troops, I pray for protection and a safe return.

Savannah and Charleston are two of my favourite cities in the US.  The history is rich, the architectural details are wonderful, plantations homes sit in magnificent park like grounds and the restaurants are  fabulous.  I'd go back in a heartbeat to both cities, there is so much to see and do. If you don't want to walk the city blocks you can take it all in on a horse drawn carriage ride, there are plantation tours, boat rides to Fort Sumter, the place where the American Civil War began for history buffs, great restaurants for foodies and the list goes on.....

We added these as a side trip to Disney World in Florida and tacked on down time at Hilton Head, to just relax.  To be honest Aussie beaches in mind are the some of the best in the world but we've got nothing like Savannah and Charleston!

Dash & Albert's - Siena Woollen Rug

Siena-sational.

These fabulous Dash & Albert woollen rugs are so feminine, they remind me of a beautiful  French aubusson weave.  We have them available Australia in three colours Siena Brown, Siena Sage and Siena Rose and four sizes.

Hand hooked with smaller "mini" loops in a finer-gauge 100% wool yarn, the wool micro-hooked area rugs are flatter and less plush than the regular hooked rugs. Perfect for high-traffic areas, these rugs require little maintenance and have a durable construction to assure longevity. Each rug is finished with a cotton canvas backing, attached with latex.

Regular vacuuming and the occasional gentle shake should keep your rug in shipshape condition, though hooked area rugs may require occasional minor grooming to stay looking their best. From time to time, as a hooked rug settles, a stray loop of yarn may pop up. This is perfectly normal. Do not pull the loop; simply trim it with scissors. Our wool micro-hooked area rugs naturally lose a bit of fuzz. This is natural, simply fetch a vacuum and groom away. For all wool rugs, we recommend professional cleaning only.
