Thank you - Australian Country Style

DASH & ALBERT INDOOR/OUTDOOR RUGS

Before introducing these rug to the Australian market we’ve been road testing them and everything that Dash & Albert say about these rugs is true.

They are truly a rug for all seasons. Made of superheroic polypropylene, the indoor/outdoor area rugs are terrific for high-traffic areas and muddy messes. Scrubbable, bleachable and UV-treated for outdoor use, this collection of woven rugs can stand up to all that you dish out.

Regular vacuuming and the occasional gentle shake should keep your rug in shipshape condition. All polypropylene area rugs are hoseable, scrubbable and bleachable. Air dry only. Please do not machine wash or tumble dry.

A huge thanks to Sara Silm for using the Captain Stripe in the article

Artist Kim Shannon

"Oil paint and colour have always been my love.  They are surprising, inspiring and challenging.  Oil paint is so tactile it creates a world of its own and colours move and flow within the medium.  With this it is possible to create a tactile sense of what I see, the 'quality' of things the 'quality' of a colour or an edge where one tone meets another.

My love of the domestic, the clutter, the scene constantly changing, composing itself, is the source for my painting.  The commonplace, the ordinary, I try to give that significance; an object that has been handled, has a history that gives it its resonance.  Painting for me is trying to make sense of life."

Words by Kim Shannon

Kim Shannon lives in the Southern Highlands.  I love and admire her work, for its subtle colours, arrangement of objects, sense of the common, the beauty she finds in the wonderful things around her, it amazes me.

It's not Summer without Hydrangeas

Hydrangeas speak to me of summer, happiness and childhood. Just as smells and music can take me back to places in my past so can flowers. There is nothing nicer than coming inside with a huge arm full of flowers and spending a long while trimming, arranging and placing flowers.

Happy Australia Day

I love a sunburnt country,

  A land of sweeping plains,

  Of ragged mountain ranges,

  Of drought and flooding rains,

  I love her far horizons

  I love her jewel sea,

Her beauty and her terror -

The wide brown land for me.

I am feeling very patriotic this year and I'm flying the flag proudly at our home.  A number of people have commented and it hasn't all been positive.  I figure if I flew the US flag on the 4th of July while we lived in the US, I can fly the Australian flag on Australia Day!

Isn't home always the best country in the world.

Summer in Sydney

I've been feeling so starved for a little bit of Summer after all the rain.  Summer is here and it's perfect!  Balmoral Beach, Sydney.
Qantas is now flying direct from DFW to Sydney, so come on Texans if Oprah can do it so can you!

We spent some time at a beach house on the South Coast.  Coastal living at its best!  Miles of pristine beaches with no one on them.....

Girly Girl

First, it was Disney Princesses, then skateboards and Razors and now it's horse riding but it will always be PINK!

I truly admire all decorating styles and I do enjoy photographs in magazines of the minimal industrial look but in our home we layer and layer.

Less Is More, in makeup, fashion and accessorising but More is Better, if we're talking fabric and cushions and colour!

I'll see where the mood takes me and I'll just run with it......
