In my mind, there's nothing better than little girls being totally horse mad, maybe it's because it's reminiscent of my childhood growing up riding.  I spent so many hours at Vanity Fair Riding School in Glossodia, learning to riding and take care of horses that I can't count them.

Izzy, loves riding  just as much as I did and her confidence is growing thanks to her fabulous instructors and weekly lessons at Highlands Equestrian Centre.   I can't praise them enough.  Junior Riding Club is a monthly special treat in our house, the girls who attend love it and spend a good half day riding and learning all about the care and keeping of ponies.  What could be better than knowing your child is loving what they're doing, making fantastic friends, being encouraged to do their best, working hard and being outdoors?
Not much really!

PS. from personal experience the trail rides are great and if you're visiting the Highlands you should really think about taking one.

Fourth Village Providore

You could walk into the Fourth Village Providore in Mosman and really be anywhere in the world, London, Paris or New York.

I have to ask "How does what is essentially a grocery store have such a fabulous atmosphere?"  Well, it must have plenty to do with the produce being displayed so well, the staff being helpful and friendly, everything looking fresh and abundant.  Being tucked away off the main drag  just adds to the enchantment of it all.

Well, I will definitely return, the Chilli Crab dip, is to die for.................

The Providore

Fourth Village Providore is an award-winning market place where  we have made it our mission to create a unique shopping experience where food is limited only by your imagination.

Mothers Day

Klimt, Mother & Child from the three ages of woman C1905

Will they remember me?

I ask myself this question every year but I've never been disappointed.

It's truly a blessing and a privilege being a mother and I wouldn't change my role for all the tea in China. It's hard work and it tests my patience daily but it's not heart wrenching like it would have been if we'd been unable to have a child.  So, to all the women in the world who struggle to conceive like we did, my heart goes out to you this weekend.  To those families unable to have children, I pray that you're a blessing to the children in your extended family and that there is comfort in being awesome Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents and  Godparents.
And
Mum 'I love you'

Have a great weekend

Welcome Home Mary Poppins

Honestly, who can't sing "A Spoonful of Sugar"

Saturday's schedule of events

An aerial view of what the umbrella silhouette should look like

45 Holly Street, Bowral, once the home of PL Traver the author of
Mary Poppins

Julie Andrews in her Oscar winning role as Mary Poppins

This is going to be a very special weekend for children and adults alike in the Southern Highlands.  With umbrellas and great attitudes we're attempting to break two world records.  The Southern Highlands will be put on the map and into the Guinness Book of World Records, as we attempt to create the largest silhouette of  Mary Poppins at the Bradman Oval and the largest ever umbrella dance.

After attempting these records, we'll get to watch a screening of the 1964 Disney classic Mary Poppins from 5.30pm and afterwards there will be a fireworks display.  Of course it's not just Highlanders who can enjoy all this free entertainment, the more the merrier!  You'll need to register at
www.shyac.org.au

Now I must go and practice the umbrella dance and start praying for fine weather.   I'll pop the YouTube umbrella dance video below, so practice and I'll see you on Saturday after horse riding......

Love this Pagoda fabric

The ginger jars & Joe Vinks table in the Lily G window

& of course the garden/drum stool @ Lilly G!

I adore Chinoiserie, if we could afford a pair of divine Hobo Bird mirrors, I'd have them in a heart beat.
A little powder bath, dining room or master bedroom with beautiful wallpaper or pagoda stenciling would be wonderful.  You know in the parallel universe that I dream in I have a totally feminine home not at all practical like the one we actually have.  I can get away with just a little..........

Chinese Chippendale on the gate

Silver beaded Pagoda pillow from William Sonoma Home
I guess I haven't done too bad!

Dash & Albert's - Plain Tin

There's nothing plain about the Dash & Albert Plain Tin Collection,
in Australia it's available in charcoal, slate and ivory.
There are four sizes ranging from 60x90cm to 243x304cm area rug
but if you'd like to special order a size we don't carry
"No problems, we'll order it in for you"

Hand hooked with smaller "mini" loops in a finer-gauge 100% wool yarn, the wool micro-hooked area rugs are flatter and less plush than the regular hooked rugs. Perfect for high-traffic areas, these rugs require little maintenance and have a durable construction to assure longevity. Each rug is finished with a cotton canvas backing, attached with latex.

Regular vacuuming and the occasional gentle shake should keep your rug in shipshape condition, though hooked area rugs may require occasional minor grooming to stay looking their best. From time to time, as a hooked rug settles, a stray loop of yarn may pop up. This is perfectly normal. Do not pull the loop; simply trim it with scissors. Our wool micro-hooked area rugs naturally lose a bit of fuzz. This is natural, simply fetch a vacuum and groom away. For all wool rugs, we recommend professional cleaning only.
